About the Convention

Convention du Lac is Louisiana's premiere Sci-Fi and Pop Culture Convention held annually in Lake Charles, La.  The event is hosted by the Southwest Louisiana Science Education Foundation and gets much of its funding from grants available through many local organizations.  Convention du Lac I was actually 2 years in planning and started as a common idea amongst Sci-Fi enthusasists in Lake Charles.  They had one common goal, to provide a quality convention that everyone could enjoy.  And the rest is, well I guess you could say, history. 

The SWLA Science Education Foundation.

This non-profit organization was formed in 2009 as a basis for hosting the Sci-Fi convention in Lake Charles.  The organization's board members are comprised of individuls who share a common interest in Sci-Fi and related fields.  We welcome anyone interested in learning more to contact us about the organization or how to volunteer.
